Tim Tebow Is Spending Offseason Trying To Improve His Throwing Motion

Tebowmania swept the NFL world this past season — much like Linsanity is currently doing in the NBA. While Tebow was a media darling, one thing was certain — he was not a very competent quarterback on the field. Tebow stole a lot of fans hearts and minds, but failed to really improve and show that he can be a capable NFL quarterback.

In hopes of improving, Tebow has flown out to Los Angeles this offseason to attempt to shorten his release and change his throwing motion for the better.

Tebow is working on his mechanics with UCLA offensive coordinator Noel Mazzone.

“He just came out here to throw and work on a few things and see if we can just become a little more efficient in what he’s doing,” Mazzone said.  “Throwing motion, footwork, everything I work on with all my quarterbacks.

“Obviously I wouldn’t do anything that would go against what their beliefs are. I know after coaching quarterbacks for a long time, they’re like girlfriends.  You don’t like other guys messing with them.”

Tebow has a lot of work to do. His completion percentage this past season was a horrific 46.5 percent — 2.4 percentage points less than Jeremy Lin’s field goal percentage. To make matters worse for Tebow, his accuracy got even more miserable in the post season.

In the Broncos two postseason games, Tebow completed just 40.4 percent of his passes.

That is completely unacceptable for a player who is supposed to be quarterbacking a franchise in the NFL. Thankfully for the Broncos and their fans, Tebow does seem dedicated to trying to improve. If he doesn’t, expect the Broncos to move on from the Tebow Experiment at the end of next season in hopes of getting a guy like Matt Barkley or Tyler Wilson in the 2013 NFL Draft.
