We are drawing dangerously close to the start of the new league year and the free agency frenzy. Here at NFL Spin Zone, we will have you covered on all of the hottest and most up-to-date free agency news. As we wait for the free agency period to begin, let’s take a look at some rumors that are making the rounds.

  • It looks like the Philadelphia Eagles will actively pursue linebacker Dan Connor. Some believe the deal will happen.
  • Vincent Jackson is going to see a ton of money thrown his way. It’s been circulated that the Redskins are prepared to blow Jackson away with an offer. The other favorites to land Jackson include the Chicago Bears and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who appear to have the inside track.
  • Cortland Finnegan could also end up in Tampa Bay. He has contacted Vincent Jackson about potentially being a package deal. Don’t rule out a reunion with former coach Jeff Fisher.
  • The Jacksonville Jaguars are poised to make a big run at Mario Williams. They really want to add him to the defensive line. The other early favorites for Williams are the Bears and Seahawks.
  • New Orleans is actively working to re-sign Marques Colston and have already offered a contract to Carl Nicks. Nicks called the offer, “respectable.”
  • Ben Grubbs is expected to leave Baltimore for a big contract. List of potential suitors includes the Chicago Bears, Dallas Cowboys, Cleveland Browns and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
  • The market for Eddie Royal is heating up. He could be pursued by the Redskins, Bears and Bucs — likely whoever misses on Vincent Jackson.
  • Despite San Francisco signing Randy Moss, don’t rule out another receiver in free agency. A guy like Robert Meachem would be a great fit.
  • Matt Flynn will draw the most interest from the Browns, Seahawks and Dolphins. If I had to lay down money now, I would put it on the Seahawks.
  • Other reports indicate the Browns will not be players for Flynn.
  • Tampa Bay will heavily pursue linebacker Curtis Lofton.
  • The Buffalo Bills could really steal the show in free agency this year.
