Could Tim Tebow End Up With New England Patriots?

A few days ago, I began speculation that an interesting fit for Tim Tebow would be the New England Patriots. This all came after reports that, if the Denver Broncos land Peyton Manning, they will trade Tebow. Immediately people connected the Jacksonville Jaguars to Tebow, but the Patriots make more sense.

There is only one name you have to mention with the Patriots for people to understand why they would be a good fit for Tebow — Josh McDaniels.

McDaniels was the head coach in Denver when they chose to draft Tebow. There is perhaps no one in the league that has more faith in the unorthodox quarterback than McDaniels. He certainly believes in him more than John Elway or John Fox. Tebow would benefit from being with a coach that has so much confidence in him.

There is now a rumor circulating that, in fact, the Broncos would trade Tebow to the Patriots if they land Peyton Manning early next week. John Clayton touched on the rumor today on ESPN Radio.

The move would allow Tebow the few years he needs to still develop as a NFL passer, while providing a solid backup for Tom Brady. If there is one thing the Patriots are good at, it is creating value for their signal-callers.

New England would not have to give up a big price for Tebow, since he likely won’t be in high demand. They can then allow Tebow to grow behind one of the games greats and either have their quarterback of the future or eventually flip him to another team for a higher pick.

There is also the fact that no one in the NFL is better at maximizing talent than Bill Belichick. If Tebow was to come into New England, Belichick would find a way to get the most out of Tebow as a football player. Tebow leaves a lot to be desired as a quarterback, but let’s face it, he is one heck of a football player. Belichick could find ways to use Tebow as a tight end or H-back and could bring a new level of versatility to the Pats offense.

Never count New England out, when it comes to a move that would outsmart us all. The belief that they could land Tebow is growing and the rumor could pick up even more early next week if Peyton chooses to come to Mile High.
