Troy Aikman Offers High Praise For Tony Romo

Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback and NFL Hall of Famer Troy Aikman was talking to the Brownsville Herald when he dropped some very surprising comments about his former team and current quarterback Tony Romo. Romo has had a lot of criticism thrown his way for his lack of the “clutch gene” and many wonder if he is really the answer in Dallas.

If you ask Aikman, Romo should be able to get the Cowboys over the hump.

I think Tony already is a better quarterback than I was,” said the three-time Super Bowl champion. “I know how quarterbacks are judged but as far as his play-making ability and the things that he is capable of doing, he is a far more athletic quarterback, capable of making more plays than I ever was able to. He has a good team around him and hopefully, and I believe this will happen, I believe that he will win a Super Bowl before he is done playing.”

Aikman may have just been being generous with his comments, but it is something to note. A lot of the higher ups in the Cowboys organization feel the same way about Romo, despite disagreement from a large portion of the fan base.

Romo is getting to the point of his career where he needs to win now. The Cowboys have the talent, they just need the right leader to take the team to the next level. Aikman believes Romo is that guy. Now, Romo needs to believe in himself and get the job done.
