NFL Draft 2012: Alshon Jeffery Shines At South Carolina Pro Day
By Josh Sanchez
South Carolina wide receiver Alshon Jeffery had seen him stock plummet after looking overweight and out of shape throughout the season. Jeffery finally started to get back in scouts good graces by weighing in at 216-pounds at the 2012 NFL Scouting Combine, but then he left us all wondering when he chose to not participate in the on-field drills.
Jeffery had a lot of pressure on him heading into South Carolina’s Pro Day today and he took the opportunity to shine.
Reports indicated that Jeffery’s 40-yard dash time was in the high-4.4’s to low-4.5’s — times averaged out around a 4.47 for Jeffery. The times were big for him and something that he needed. On top of the 40-time, Jeffery continued to show that he was dedicated to being in shape:

Representatives from all 32 NFL teams were in attendance for the South Carolina Pro Day, including some big names like New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan, Pittsburgh Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert and Cincinnati Bengals defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer.
Jeffery’s workout will not go unnoticed and the eye-popping numbers place him right back in the first-round mix. This workout was everything that Jeffery needed and the fact that he performed so well in a high pressure situation will only help him in the eyes of NFL personnel.
