NFL Schedule Preview: Indianapolis Colts

It’s 69 days until the new NFL season begins but for a football mad guy like me that’s just too long so I’ve taken it upon myself to go over each NFL schedule and try and predict for all of you what may happen once the season rolls around.

Last week we had a look at the schedules of the AFC North and this week we will go through each of the teams of the AFC South beginning with the Indianapolis Colts who went 2-14 in 2011. Here’s how I think their season will go:

  • Week 1 at Chicago Bears – Loss
  • Week 2 vs Minnesota Vikings – Win
  • Week 3 vs Jacksonville Jaguars – Loss
  • Week 4 BYE
  • Week 5 vs Green Bay Packers – Loss
  • Week 6 at New York Jets – Loss
  • Week 7 vs Cleveland Browns – Loss
  • Week 8 at Tennessee Titans – Loss
  • Week 9 vs Miami Dolphins – Loss
  • Week 10 – at Jacksonville Jaguars – Win
  • Week 11 at New England Patriots – Loss
  • Week 12 vs Buffalo Bills – Win
  • Week 13 at Detroit Lions – Loss
  • Week 14 vs Tennessee Titans – Win
  • Week 15 at Houston Texans – Loss
  • Week 16 at Kansas City Chiefs – Win
  • Week 17 vs Houston Texans – Loss

Overall Record for the Indianapolis Colts in 2012: 5-11

It’s pretty apparent to anyone who has watched college football or keeps tabs on the NFL that rookie quarterback Andrew Luck is a special player and in his first year he’s got a schedule that’s actually pretty reasonable. There are a lot of tough games on this schedule which include a number of tantalising quarterback matchups potentially including nine first rounders not to mention that in Brady, Rodgers, Schaub and Stafford there will be plenty of schooling of the Colts #1 overall pick.

Overall you can almost see the evolution of Luck’s game in the schedule and while there are tough matchups ahead it’s rare for him to get two truly tough assignments in a row which will give Luck and his beleaguered team a little room to breathe and perhaps we might see a bit of magic from the Stanford alum by the time the season is out. A lot of potential here.

Tomorrow our look at the AFC South schedules continues with the Tennessee Titans.
