Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson has missed practice all week due to a nagging knee injury sustained in the Detroit Lions week 6 game against the Philadelphia Eagles. Despite this, the expectation is that he will play this Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars according to a report from the Detroit Free Press.

While Johnson has been experiencing multiple smaller injuries throughout this season, this particular knee injury is the most serious so far. It appears the team is trying to rest Johnson this week in an effort to give him a better chance of playing his best this week.

"“That’s the main thing, just being ready for Sunday. Got to be out there to help these guys out.” – Calvin Johnson"

There has been a noticeable difference in Johnson’s numbers this year when it comes to touchdowns as so far this season he has only caught the ball in the end zone once. Despite this, his overall numbers have been pretty good despite having one injury or another for most of the season. While there are all sorts of theories as to why he’s not scoring as much this year, it is likely that the injuries are stopping Johnson from using the physical way he plays in the red zone to full affect as this season he is struggling to beat the double and triple teams he spectacularly defeated so often in the past.
