John Abraham was recently released by the Atlanta Falcons. But as he heads to free agency he said he hopes to keep playing to try and pursue Michael Strahan‘s all time sack number. He went on 790 The Zone in Atlanta to talk about free agency after 7 years with the Falcons.

“I think I got a couple more years in me. I still think I can — I’m trying to catch Mike, Michael Strahan. He’s got 20 more sacks than me, and I’m trying to get that all-time forced fumble [record],” Abraham said, via Sports Radio Interviews. “So I still wanna play; I still enjoy the game. I still feel good enough to play.”

Why he is eyeing Michael Strahan’s milestone is odd. My guess is that would make him Top 5 on the all time sacks leader list, Strahan is in the #5 spot right now.

“I’m looking at 31 other teams. Any team would be [good],” Abraham said. “I still wanna play and if somebody can put enough confidence in me to play some more I’ll be ready to play.”

But despite clearly leaving Atlanta off the list of teams when he counted 31, he isn’t shutting the door on the Falcons.

“I don’t know. I gotta, like, pick and choose right now. Everything happened kind of quick so I really didn’t have a chance to really sit down and think about it. I had some other stuff to handle.”
