NFL running backs hitting 2,000 yards is becoming someone what common. Only 7 players have hit the milestone, 5 of which in the past 15 years roughly. What’s almost more surprising is that it’s happened in the past 10 years 3 times when the NFL has transitioned to a more passing oriented offense.

And Tennessee Titans running back Chris Johnson thinks that he, not Adrian Peterson, could be the first to do it twice.

“I know I have another 2,000 yard season in me,” Johnson said on Jim Rome’s radio show. “I would love to get 2,000 yards again, but I haven’t been to the playoffs since my rookie year, I want to get back there.”

But when the Titans added Shonn Greene this summer, Chris Johnson wasn’t pleased. Signing Greene means they are transitioning to a two back rotation, which translates to less carries for Johnson.

“At the end of the day you want to stay in there,” Johnson said. “[But] I’d rather have 2,000 yards than have 20 touchdowns, so you got to take the good with the bad.”

Essentially what he is saying is that if he racks up the yardage leading the Titans down the field and Greene comes in to punch the ball in the end zone, he is ok with that. He’d rather get back to 2,000 yards than racking up touchdowns. Something to keep in mind fantasy owners.
