The woman who falsely accused Atlanta LB Brian Banks of rape when they were both students at Long Beach Polytechnic High School was ordered to repay $2.6 million in damages. She received $1.5 from the Long Beach School District in 2007.

Brian Banks will see none of that money. He served 5 years in prison and another 5 years on probation as a result of the verdict and was released in 2012 when Banks taped the accuser admitting that she lied.

Banks was a top football prospect in high school and was offered scholarships to big time schools, but he had to serve 5 years in jail. He worked out for a few teams last season, but was unable to crack an NFL Roster. This offseason he worked out with the Atlanta Falcons and was able to get a contract with them.

I am rooting for the kid. He was given a bad deal and could have had a possible career in the NFL robbed from him. It sickens me thinking that he had to be locked up in jail for 5 years for something he didn’t do. You cannot put a dollar amount on what she did to his life.
