The Minnesota Vikings are interested in bringing former Green Bay Packers LB Desmond Bishop over to play middle linebacker, but Erin Henderson has some different thoughts on the situation. Erin Henderson

“I’m playing the Mike,” Henderson said Tuesday from Minnesota Vikings minicamp, according to KSTP-AM.

You are the Mike…. right now. Until the Vikings sign Desmond Bishop. Bishop would be a huge upgrade for the Vikings in the middle and it could move Henderson over to the weakside, a better role for him.

Via NFL.com:

"“It’s cool,” Henderson said of Bishop’s visit. “I hope it goes well for him (and) the Vikings like what they see. Welcome him with open arms, welcome him to the team. Not really sure what it’s about. I’m just employee No. 50, baby. I just come out here and do what they ask me to do on the field.“You definitely need as many good players as you can have,” he added. “You never know what’s going to happen throughout the season. All the ebbs and flows and ups and downs (of) 16 games. People get beat up, people get injured, get hurt. So it’s always good to have people that can come in and play.”"

That is a good attitude for Henderson. He is the Mike. He is got some reps there in minicamp, but when it is all said and done, he would welcome a good player on the roster to hold down that spot. He is just going to do whatever the team asks of him.

Bishop has a visit scheduled with the Kansas City Chiefs. That will force the Vikings to make their move quickly.
