The Dallas Cowboys have cut ties with fullback Lawrence Vickers today. It shouldn’t come as a surprise though. The Cowboys look to be moving to a different style of offense that will feature more use of tight ends.

Veteran Jason Witten will hold down one of the tight end spots and they just drafted Gavin Escobar this year. Both guys should see a top of snaps on offense and that doesn’t leave room for Vickers. Vickers was the last fullback on their roster.

I think the offense will be fine without the use of a fullback. Having a pair of tight ends on offense will give Tony Romo more options in the passing game and they still can open up holes for DeMarco Murray in the run game.

Vickers will join another top fullback Vonta Leach in free agency. Leach is trying to work out a deal with the Miami Dolphins. Vickers will have to try to find another team out there that still believes in using fullbacks.
