The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are exploring the possibilities of adding RB Peyton Hillis onto the roster. They are going to work him out to see if he would be a good fit as a backup to Doug Martin.

The depth at the running back position in Tampa is suspect and Hillis could get some snaps behind Martin. The team also should try to give Martin a breather here and there throughout the season. They don’t want to wear the kid out.

Martin has shown that he can be one of the premiere backs in the league. He showed it with his performance last season. It would be a good idea to get him some insurance and to get someone who can take on the short yardage situations.

Hillis wouldn’t hurt Martin’s value in fantasy leagues. When you have a back like Martin, you have to feed that monster the ball over and over again. Hillis would just be brought in if Martin needed a little break.
