The New York Jets will have to continue on without the services of wide receiver Santonio Holmes for at least the first 4 games of the season.

According to the New York Post, Holmes has told friends and those close to him that “he expects to miss at least the first four games of the season.”

The team has to decide if they want to take him off of the PUP list and add him to the active roster or let him ride out the PUP list for the first 6 weeks of the season.

Without Holmes available, the Jets will use Stephen Hill, Braylon Edwards, Clyde Gates, Jeremy Kerley some duct tape and a bunch of random guys to try to hold the receiving corps together.

The bigger question for the Jets is at the quarterback position. Will Mark Sanchez or Geno Smith be the guy under center tossing the rock out to the receivers?

I have to believe it will be Geno. Why would the Jets want to throw Mark Sanchez out there for another season? They already know what they have with him. They might as well toss the rookie right into the fire and see how he fairs.
