Hey fantasy footballers it’s me again ‘THE FANTASY TYPHOON’ here to bring you yet another league dominating article. It’s here! It’s that time again! YES! This time we are ready for some real football. This Thursday September 5th we kick off on the 2013 NFL season. This is a weekly series that will give you an edge on the competition, while giving you a window into the NFL. Let’s go!
BALTIMORE RAVENS vs DENVER BRONCOS
What better way to kick off the season than giving us a 2013 version of the 2012 NFL Divisional playoffs. Yes, look for Peyton Manning to prove that he still has what it takes to make this team great this year. We look for the Broncos to come out firing the ball all over the place making this a hard game for the Ravens to stay competitive in. They are not the type of offense that likes to participate in shootouts. The defense of the Ravens have not jelled together enough to be able to contain this match up.
Fantasy Starters – “Denver” – Look for Manning, Demariyus Thomas, Welker, and Decker to have good games but don’t forget the new threat in Julius Thomas. Denver has swiped the New England playbook from last year and are going to take advantage of the Welker factor this year. Don’t be afraid to start Julius if you are having trouble with your TE position for your deep rosters. Denver DST could create a turnover but not what you are looking for. Certainly if you have no choice then start them. Now this muddy backfield is a guess at best. Ronnie Hillman is expected to start but I don’t expect him to be in there for long. Then they have the option of bringing in Montee Ball but will they trust this season to a rookie. Remember that Denver is in a super bowl or bust mode. They don’t have time to babysit. This leaves us with Knowshon Moreno. While he is not a special player he is the most skilled of the three. I participate in a deep league and I am trotting Knowshown out there for me in my flex position.
Peyton Manning – 300+/4+
Demaryius Thomas – 100+/1
Eric Decker – 65+/1
Wes Welker – 75+1
Julius Thomas – 45+/1
Knowshown Moreno – 35+/1
Ronnie Hillman – 55+
Monttee Ball – 45+
Matt Prater – 4+ extra points 2+ FG’s
Fantasy Starters – “Baltimore” – The Ravens are going to showcase Ray Rice not only in the running game but also in the passing game. Look for Ray to have a huge game to start you off on a good foot. Also if you have Bernard Pierce in deeper leagues you might want to place him in the flex. With the Ravens DST not being able to slow down the no huddle Modified Spread aerial attack from Manning, this will leave them to try to keep up. Don’t start the Ravens DST unless you must. Look for Flacco to find Ed Dickson early and often. This is the game that is going to tell the story for the whole 2013 season as regards to Torrey Smith. Look for Denver to bump him at the line and place the second defender over the top. If Torrey has not stepped up his route running skills this will be a long year for him. If he under performs in this game we advise you to trade him NOW! Also look for a second WR from this receiving corps to come to the forefront and when he does add him to your rosters immediately.
Joe Flacco – 275+/2+
Ray Rice – 125+/1+ – 65+/1
Bernard Pierce – 55+/1+ – 35
Torrey Smith – 75+
Ed Dickson – 95+/1
WR2 – 70+
Justin Tucker – 3+Extra points 2+FG’s
Denver 42 – Baltimore 27
This is for the Thursday night game only and the full week 1 report will be posted on Friday. Thanks and good luck fantasy footballers from “THE FANTASY TYPHOON
