Dez Bryant on field, not practicing

Dallas Cowboys star wide receiver Dez Bryant was expected to return to practice today and practice on a limited basis, according to a tweet from Matt Mosley, but ESPN Dallas’s Todd Archer reports that Dez Bryant is not practicing despite being on the field. Bryant is fully expected to play on Sunday against the St. Louis Rams, but it’s interesting to see that he did not participate in any team drills today despite being expected to receive the majority of first-team reps in practice.

Bryant was instead seen stretching, jogging, running routes, and catching passes from a strength coach. He did, however, say that he will play on Sunday, and Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett downplayed Bryant’s back issues, “Sometimes these injuries come up with guys and you just have to get through them. I don’t know that age is really a factor here. Dez is a really tough guy. He typically comes back from injury fairly well and fairly quickly.”

Although Dez Bryant also did not practice yesterday, it would be a shock for him to not be a full-go against the Rams, and we’ll see if he can put up more incredible numbers. Last week, Bryant had nine catches for 141 yards, and the only reason why he had just four catches for 22 yards against the New York Giants in Week 1 is because the Giants sent the house at Bryant. That decision allowed everyone else on the Cowboys to be open, and Miles Austin tore up the Giants with 13 easy catches.
