The New York Giants need any players on defense that they can get. They are sitting winless at 0-4 and have been outscored 69-7 in the last couple of games. If that is not a cry for defense, then I do not know what is. Acquiring a defensive player can’t help with the turnovers from Eli Manning, but it will hopefully bring some turnovers and some stops on the other side of the ball.

The New York Giants are giving the Carolina Panthers a late round draft pick for LB Jon Beason. Beason was recently benched for former Giants players Chase Blackburn.

The Giants are getting a 28 year old linebacker that has battled through a bunch of injuries. He has played in 7 games the last few seasons for Carolina, counting this year. He has a total of 11 tackles so far. Before all the injuries that pushed him to the sideline, he was easily a 100+ tackle linebacker. Now people just hope he can stay on the field.

Last season he lost his job to rookie LB Luke Kuchly and this season he lost it to Chase Blackburn. Hopefully he can find a spot to stick with the Giants.

Here are Carolina Head Coach Ron Rivera‘s thoughts on him:

"“He is a competitor. He’s working hard to recapture that form and that style of football he’s used to playing,” Rivera said. “We’ll continue to keep giving him reps, keep working with him, keep developing him and we’ll see.”"
