Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Miles Austin (19) runs with the ball after catching a pass against the Cincinnati Bengals in the second quarter at AT

The Dallas Cowboys have listed WR Miles Austin as doubtful on the team’s injury report with a hamstring injury, and you can take him out of your fantasy lineups at this point. Austin hasn’t practiced all week, and he didn’t play in last week’s game either. He suffered the hamstring injury in Week 3 against the St. Louis Rams, and the injury didn’t seem as significant as it does now with Austin set to miss a second straight game. ESPN Dallas’s Todd Archer reports that Miles Austin stated he is “feeling better”, but that doesn’t really mean much at this point.

Players listed doubtful on the injury report almost never play. Players listed doubtful on the injury report who also never practiced all week are incredibly unlikely to play, and you can pretty much rule out Miles Austin for this week’s big contest against the Denver Broncos. It’s a big but expected blow for the Dallas Cowboys offense, and the Cowboys have lost a solid wide receiver who does a nice job of moving the chains and takes off a lot of pressure from a elite wideout Dez Bryant. As we saw against the New York Giants when Austin totaled double-digits receptions, Austin will make you pay if you leave him open in order to cover Bryant as much as possible.

If  Austin is indeed out Sunday, then rookie wide receiver Terrance Williams will once again get the start for the Cowboys. He will go up against a Denver Broncos secondary that is loaded with talent at corner, but he could have a big day if he’s able to haul in a deep pass or two with his vertical speed. Last week, Williams took full advantage of an easy matchup against the San Diego Chargers secondary with seven receptions, but this week’s AFC West foe will present a much more difficult test for the rook.
