New York Giants RB Brandon Jacobs was expected to return to practice today after suffering a minor hamstring injury last week in Thursday’s win. The New York Daily News’s Ralph Vacchiano reports that Jacobs will practice today, so he is progressing along as expected. Jacobs’s injury is viewed as quite minor, so it would be a shock for him to miss this week’s favorable matchup against the Minnesota Vikings.

While it is unwise to believe that Jacobs can consistently get over 100 rushing yards on the ground, he’s a solid fantasy play. He should be able to get frequent touches against the Vikings, and the fact that he is set to rack up the goal-line carries definitely helps. That’s clearly where Jacobs derives most of his value in fantasy and in real life, and it will be interesting to see if the Giants offensive line can continue to block well for him.

A power back like Jacobs can help make up for a few leaks in the run blocking up front, but he still needs to receive consistent blocking. Injuries and just general ineffectiveness have largely plagued the Giants offensive line this season, but they had a nice bounce-back game against the Chicago Bears and were adequately able to create holes for Jacobs. We’ll see if the line can keep that going, and we’ll also see if Jacobs can continue to turn back the clock about three years.
