Miami Dolphins LB Dannell Ellerbe will likely have to sit out the game this weekend against the Buffalo Bills with a shoulder injury. Ellerbe hurt his should in week 5 against his former team the Baltimore Ravens and still has not resumed practice. The team has had a BYE week and had time for him to recover, but he still doesn’t look like he will be available. The team is trying to get him on the practice field at least once before the game against the Bills, but id he doesn’t get out there, the team will have to rely on Jason Trusnik and rookie Jelani Jenkins to fill the void.
Ellerbe is the team’s leading tackler through the first 6 weeks of the season. He currently has 40 tackles for the team and has been a great addition to the defense.
Trusnik is prepared to take over if he is called upon:
“That’s one thing I’ve taken pride in, knowing all the linebacker positions and the [entire] defense so if one of the other guys goes down I’m able to help,” said Trusnik, via Sun Sentinel.
If Trusnik were to start, it would be his 18th start of his career.
