Christian Ponder used to be the starting quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings. He then went down with ha fractured rib and lost his starting job to Matt Cassel. While he was out the team also signed QB Josh Freeman from the waiver wire. Now Ponder is all healed up from his injury and ready to get back on the field to only see that Josh Freeman has taken over his position and Freeman has barely been on the roster for a week.

Now Ponder is contemplating asking for his release or a possible trade. Ponder is not sure what his decision is going to be, but he wants to do what is best for the team:

"“I don’t know. Again, I have to figure out what’s best for me and everything and for this team,” he said Wednesday. “I don’t know if that’s staying here or going somewhere else.” – Pioneer Press"

I don’t know too many teams that would be interested in trading for Ponder. Ponder had the best running back in the league on his roster and had defenses focused all on Adrian Peterson, but Ponder was unable to take advantage of the situation. He is a young quarterback though and someone will give him a chance. Someone signed Matt Flynn, so someone will take Ponder.
