C.J. Spiller still not practicing

Buffalo Bills star RB C.J. Spiller tried to downplay the severity of his ankle injury earlier this week, but Bills head coach Doug Marrone was certainly more realistic. Spiller’s ankle was clearly bothering him in Sunday’s win over the Miami Dolphins, and he hasn’t been himself due to the injury. It’s finally time the Bills force Spiller to rest for a week before returning to the field, because it’s definitely the best move in the long run.

The Bills know this, and they have sat C.J. Spiller out of practice every day this week. WGR 550’s Joe Buscaglia tweets that Spiller was not seen at practice today, and there is almost no chance that he plays this week against the New Orleans Saints. His ankle needs to be rested, and I think he could be ruled out before Sunday’s game. The Bills probably won’t do that since they will want to sap out every chance possible of the Saints having to gameplan for Spiller.

With Spiller most likely out this week, Fred Jackson will be the Bills No. 1 RB. He’s been their best RB this season, but he aggravated an MCL sprain against the Dolphins. He heroically returned just a drive later to score a touchdown, but he isn’t fully healthy. Jackson will definitely play this week, but expect to see Tashard Choice out there.
