San Francisco 49ers superstar tight end Vernon Davis is one of the most important players on the 49ers team, so they absolutely cannot afford to have him out for a significant period of time. Davis has left today’s big game against the Carolina Panthers with a possible concussion, and he is currently being evaluated by the Niners for a possible concussion after dropping a pass. He is currently in the locker room after absorbing a big hit from rising, tough Panthers safety Mike Mitchell, and 49ers fans can only cross their fingers that Davis does not have a concussion.

Before the injury, Davis had just one reception for two yards, and he is reportedly questionable to return. Keep a close eye on any and all updates that come in regarding the 49ers leading pass-catcher, because Davis’s impact on this game and on the 49ers season cannot be ignored. Even if he only misses the remainder of today’s game, it could still be a tough blow against a playoff contender like the Panthers.

Davis has caught 29 passes for 518 yards and seven touchdowns this season, as he has been a tremendous threat in the red zone for the 49ers. More importantly, he’s an elite TE who is as good as any TE in this league at stretching the seam, which was one key for the 49ers coming into the game.
