New York Giants wide receiver Hakeem Nicks has pretty much gone AWOL this season, but the Giants were still wise to hold onto their star receiver until the deadline. The Giants are now 4-6 after a four-game winning streak, and the division crown is will within their reach now. They have a weak NFC East to thank and a terrible Dallas Cowboys defense to than as well. In fact, the Giants can take full advantage of that defense this week, as they play a very crucial game against the Cowboys this week that has plenty of playoff ramifications. It’s one of the most important games this week. And even though Nicks has struggled this season, he has so much talent that the Giants would reap massive benefits if he can get back on track soon.

According to the New York Post’s Paul Schwartz, Hakeem Nicks is not at practice for the Giants today, and that’s somewhat concerning news. Schwartz tweets that Nicks suffered a knee injury against the Green Bay Packers, but it didn’t seem like the knee injury was noticeable. What was noticeable, though, was Nicks’s frustration in that game, and I can’t tell if he was frustrated with himself or frustrated with the offense (he only saw five targets). Or, maybe, he was frustrated by yet another injury, because injuries have definitely been a frustrating occurrence for Nicks- and Giants fans- throughout his career.

The knee injury, though, seems minor, so expect Nicks to be out there in this week’s huge game against the Cowboys. Whether or not he’ll be effective remains to be seen, but he has still managed to haul in 620 yards and make a few big plays this season. He’s been inconsistent, but he’s still actually been able to produce some quality numbers. But with Nicks, you’d expect more than just three games this season with at least five receptions.
