Tony Gonzalez Injury: Atlanta Falcons TE at walkthrough

The Atlanta Falcons suffered another crushing defeat last week, and their porous defense was just torn to shreds by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Mike Glennon, Bobby Rainey, and Vincent Jackson all had monster games, and the Falcons defense was left reeling after allowing 41 points to their rivals. It would be pretty fun to watch the Falcons perform the unlikely upset, but things definitely aren’t going for them due to their woes in pass protection and horrendous defense. Seriously, the Saints could do exactly what they did to the Dallas Cowboys defense on prime-time.

At least the Falcons should have key weapon Tony Gonzalez out there again, and losing him for this game would be borderline catastrophic. According to ESPN NFL Nation’s Vaughn McClure, Gonzalez is at the team’s walkthrough today ahead of tomorrow’s game, which indicates that he is guaranteed to play. Teams use the walkthrough as an exact preparation for their gameplan on short weeks, so you can effectively lock up Gonzo for tomorrow’s game.

There wasn’t much doubt that he would play, either, as Gonzalez slogged it out last week against the Buccaneers on a toe injury. He managed to catch seven passes despite being hobbled. While this week’s short week certainly hasn’t done the veteran TE any favors, he should be a full-go against the Saints and will hopefully turn in another quality performance.
