Tennessee Titans work out Mike Thomas

Former Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Mike Thomas continues to make the rounds in the AFC South, as the National Football Post’s Aaron Wilson reports that Tennessee Titans recently worked out Thomas, who also worked out with the Houston Texans not too long ago. Thomas was traded from the Jaguars to the Detroit Lions last season, and the Lions released him in training camp. One of Gene Smith’s finest signings (yes, that was dripping with sarcasm, though Smith was such an awful GM that it could sadly be correct), the 26-year-old was absolutely horrendous in camp for the Lions and never stood a chance at making the roster.

It’s been a downhill slide over the past couple of years for Thomas, who was also released by the Arizona Cardinals in August. The Cardinals picked up the Arizona Wildcats product a day after he was released by the Lions, but Thomas failed to make the Cardinals roster out of training camp and was cut during the crunchdown.

The Titans are the second team that Mike Thomas has worked out for this season, as he worked out for the Texans last month. Ideally, this is just a very speculative workout made by the Titans, but Thomas isn’t a completely incompetent receiver. I don’t expect him to make much of an impact, but I wouldn’t be opposed to the Titans taking a flier on him.
