Johnny Manziel, Mike Evans will declare for 2014 NFL Draft

Texas A&M Aggies wide receiver Mike Evans.

The Texas A&M Aggies have the best QB-WR combo in college football in Johnny Manziel and Mike Evans, and both players are fully expected to be first-round picks in the 2014 NFL Draft. In fact, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see them both end up in the top ten, as Manziel is regarded as one of the “big four” quarterback prospect and Evans is in the discussion as the best WR in the class.

The NFL Network’s Gil Brandt reports that tomorrow’s bowl game between Texas A&M and the Duke Blue Devils will be the last college football game for both Manziel and Evans, and this is news that definitely doesn’t come as a surprise. Both players were locks to declare for the draft, and the confirmation that they will indeed head into the draft is almost as unsurprising as Mike Shanahan getting fired by the Washington Redskins.

It will be interesting to see how both players do in the overhyped pre-draft process, especially since Evans has speed concerns. Those concerns are just about the only thing going against Evans, who has incredible body control and has bailed out Manziel a few times this year. He has elite size and can catch the ball in traffic with ease, and he also has an almost-innate ability to get open.
