Former Chicago Bears wide receiver and return specialist Devin Hester hasn’t received too much interest on the free agent market, but that is to be expected since most return men don’t get many visits or calls on the open market. I mean, Trindon Holliday has received just about no interest, but he is also much more prone to mistakes than Hester on returns.

Anyway, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel’s Chris Perkins reports that Hester’s agent was “contacted” by the Miami Dolphins, and Hester told Perkins that he “would love to play for” the Miami Dolphins.

It will be interesting to see how interested the Dolphins are in Hester, but the fact that there is mutual interest means that Dolphins-Hester rumors are worth watching for in the near future. The 31-year-old looks like a great fit for the Dolphins as a return specialist at the right price, and there’s no doubt that the best returner in NFL history would make a huge impact on special teams for the Dolphins organization. He had a whopping 1,442 kick-off return yards last season, and he also added 256 punt return yards and a touchdown.

Hester doesn’t offer anything as a receiver, and he caught less than 20 passes last season for the first time since his rookie year. In fact, he didn’t catch a single pass last season, and he never caught a single pass as a rookie.
