Cam Newton ‘Surprised’ About Wide Receiver Moves

What a beautiful surprise for Cam Newton to have. Imagine rolling out on vacation from work and when you return, everyone that helped you become the person that you have become is gone and you have to work with a new group of people. That is exactly what happened to Cam Newton.

Head coach Ron Rivera asked about Newton’s reaction and this is what he had to say per ESPN:

"“Surprised,” Rivera said.“Cam had nothing to do with what we did, whether it be Steve or any of our other guys that left or any of the guys that we saw,” Rivera said. “Cam understands what we’re doing, he knows what we’re doing, but he didn’t know what we did until he came into town to get his ankle looked at.”"

SURPRISE… you have no more receivers!

The Panthers have filled the wide receiver room with Jericho Cotchery and Tiquan Underwood this offseason to bring some help for Cam. That is all he has to work with at this point. DeSean Jackson was just released off of the Philadelphia Eagles, but why would the Panthers want to bring in someone that is just like Steve Smith? They just released Smith off of the roster.

The team needs to bring in some help for Cam and it will likely come in the deep wide receiver draft. It still has people scratching their heads though. Cam can’t do it all by himself, but it sure seems like he will be asked to this season.
