Just one day after being indicted on assault charges, Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice marries his fiancée, Janay Palmer, according to ESPN.com. Rice was indicted on aggravated assault after he allegedly struck Palmer unconscious. Palmer was also charged with simple assault.

The now newly weds got into an altercation on February 15th at the Revel Casino and Hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Video evidence showed Rice pulling his then fiancée out of an elevator by her arms and then laying her down on the floor. TMZ later posted the video to their site. Rice and Palmer were later charged with simple assault following the altercation. Rice was indicted on Friday, the minimal sentence that comes along with this type of charge is 3 years.

The charges against Palmer were dismissed as neither Palmer or Rice want to move along with the case. Reports say that the couple are ‘happy and in counseling’.

The 27-year-old is coming off of his worst season of his career, but the Ravens believe it won’t be his last. The team recently said that they still believe Rice has a future with the team, despite his recent arrest. This doesn’t come to us as a surprise, the Ravens are a team that are known to stick by their players. In 2004, running back Jamal Lewis was sentenced to 4 months in prison on drug charges, but remained on the team and continued to play upon his release.

Ray Rice is under contract with the Ravens through the 2017 season.
