The Carolina Panthers have been in desperate need for help at wide receiver this offseason. They lost a lot of talent during this offseason and have yet to replenish the roster. They will be going into the draft hard and looking to get some playmakers at the position for Cam Newton and the offense. The team was able to add a receiver through free agency today with the signing of former Philadelphia Eagles WR Jason Avant.

Avant will join Jerricho Cotchery and Tiquan Underwood on the Panthers offense. They all were added onto the roster this offseason through free agency. The team does not have a clear-cut number 1 receiver on the roster at this point, but will be hoping to find a receiver in the draft that can step up.

Avant is 30 years old and has spent his career with the Eagles. Last season he finished the year with 447 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns. He has been in the league for 8 seasons and has a career total of 3646 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns. He will be competing to get some playing time on the roster and should get a good opportunity to make the team.
