The Jacksonville Jaguars have made their move and will sign Cleveland Browns C Alex Mack to an offer sheet. The offer is for a 5-year contract according to Adam Schefter, but the details of the contract have not been released. The Jags intend to structure the deal in order to make it difficult for the Browns to match the offer.
The Browns now have 5 days to match the offer in order to retain his rights. Browns GM Jimmy Haslam has said that he would match any offers that came through for his center, but we will see what type of deal was put together.
The Browns have the space under the cap and should not have a problem matching any deal that the Jaguars were able to put together. Mack would be a nice addition to the Jaguars, but the expectations of that addition have to be put on hold for the next few days. The Jaguars will not be able to celebrate a new signing unless the Browns decline to match the offer. They made their move and are forcing the issue onto the Browns.
