The San Francisco 49ers are putting contract talks with Colin Kaepernick on hold as they wait for some clarity after the incident report was released last week, per Ian Rapoport. The two sides have been working to get a contract extension completed before the start of the 2014 season, but the two sides have not been close to a deal. Kaepernick is looking for a deal that will pay him over $18 million per season.

The incident report that was filed by a lady just seemed to be an incident report. There doesn’t seem to be any criminal activity involved with Kaepernick and there doesn’t seem to be any charges that were filed. There are still different pieces to that story that are getting revealed though and the 49ers are going to wait it out.

The 49ers need to make sure that Kaepernick is someone worth investing in. If this incident report turns into something more, then the team covered their butts. Kaepernick is looking for a ton of dough and I am sure that some team will offer him that deal if the San Francisco 49ers are unable to reach an agreement.

For now, the talks are on hold.
