A [big-play receiver] is something we need in this offense to be successful

The New York Giants let Hakeem Nicks leave in free agency since he was unable to produce on offense last season. The team needed more production from the number 1 receiver and Nicks was unable to get it.

They will be looking to add a receiver in the draft now to take some of the attention away from Victor Cruz. Cruz’s production dipped a bit without a threat on the outside. He received more attention from defenses and he is hoping to get some help on the offensive side of the ball through the draft.

"“A [big-play receiver] is something we need in this offense to be successful,” Cruz said. “An outside guy that can do the job and that can help fuel all the other receivers in the locker room and put some fire up under them to get them where they have to be.”"

The Giants select 12th in the draft in a couple of weeks and could look to add that receiver in that first round. One player that Cruz would love on the roster is Texas A&M WR Mike Evans, but Evans might not be available during the Giants selection.

There are plenty of players that could help take the pressure off of Cruz though in this draft. They will just have to find the perfect compliment that can gel with Eli Manning.
