FanSided NFL Mock Draft: Oakland Raiders Select Sammy Wakins

We are running through our FanSided NFL Mock draft at the moment. This is where the editors around the network make the selections for their teams. We will be publishing the entire mock when it is complete on this site and will post each selection individually as they come in as well.

Here are the selections that have already been made by our FanSided editors:

1. Houston Texans Jadeveon Clowney, DE, South Carolina
2. St. Louis Rams (from Washington Redskins) Khalil Mack, LB, Buffalo
3. Jacksonville Jaguars Teddy Bridgewater, QB, Louisville
4. Cleveland Browns Derek Carr, QB Fresno State

With the 2nd pick in the NFL Draft, the Oakland Raiders select…

Sammy Watkins, WR, Clemson

Selection made by Chase Ruttig, Editor of Just Blog Baby

Here is the analysis on the selection:

This pick is a no brainer and one that I sadly feel is impossible given the fact that it is looking more and more like either the Jaguars or Browns will pass on a quarterback before it is the Raiders turn in the draft, meaning that Watkins will likely be gone based on the fact he is hands down the second best player in this class.

Last year Clemson decided to base their entire offense around the abilities of Watkins and it worked well enough to win them an Orange Bowl game. With the Raiders lacking a true #1 receiver the Raider Nation will be dreaming of a Watkins drop to #5 on Thursday.
