Before the Cleveland Browns made a move to pick up Johnny Manziel in the NFL Draft, the team attempted to get Kirk Cousins from the Washington Redskins. They were offering up a 4th round selection in order to take the backup quarterback off of their hands, but the Redskins denied the offer.

The Browns were looking to pair the quarterback with offensive coordinator Kyle Shannahan, but they will instead have to work with Johnny Manziel running the offense.

Manziel definitely has a bigger name and is a bigger draw for the fans. I don’t think Kirk cousins would have sold as many jerseys as Manziel has been able to sell in his first week as a Brown.

It all comes down to the play on the field though. Manziel still has not proved anything in the NFL. The history of the position with the Browns has been sad and the team is looking to flip the script with Manziel running the show. He has a big burden to carry, but I don’t think that Manziel is worried about it at all.
