Indianapolis Colts RB Trent Richardson is returning to the field after having surgery on his shoulder earlier in the year and in order for the team to protect him, he is wearing the good ol’ red jersey during OTAs. The red jersey usually is designated for the quarterbacks on the roster so that the defense knows not to hit the prize on the roster, but this time around it will be used to protect Richardson from getting touched during practice.

I don’t know how much that will help Richardson though. It will keep him healthy during the year, but how many holes are going to open up in practice because of the red jersey that are not going to open up during the regular season.

The Colts invested a lot in order to bring Richardson onto the roster and they are hoping that he will be able to step his game up. He has been a disappointment since his arrival to the team and he will have some competition for carries during camp. Vick Ballard and Ahmad Bradshaw will both be returning from injuries this season and will be hoping to take some of those carries away.
