The Jacksonville Jaguars will be relying on their free agent RB Toby Gerhart to take the bulk of the carries in the running game this season. He is a solid player that the team can rely on for picking up tough yards.

He will always move forward and will be great in short yardage situations. He should do a good job of blocking for his quarterback in the backfield and will also be a threat catching the ball.

He couldn’t get much playing time behind Adrian Peterson in Minnesota, so he didn’t get many opportunities to take the football. The Jags will get him that chance. Time for him to shine.

Here are Jags GM David Caldwell’s thoughts on Gerhart via USA Today.

"“Knowing he was going to have to pass protect, catch the ball out of the backfield and get tough yardage, he was a really good fit for us,” said Caldwell. “He’ll be a great asset.”"

Look for the Jags to trust the ball in Gerhart’s hands often. He will be looking to pound the rock on defenses. While the defenses tire, the passing game can take advantage.
