Indianapolis Colts WR Lavon Brazill has been suspended for the 2014 NFL season for marijuana use. He had previously been suspended for the first games of the 2013 season for violating the same policy. Brazill finished last season with 12 catches for 161 yards and a couple of touchdowns. He won’t be able to make any plays this season and might not be able to make any plays ever again.
With Brazill out for the season, opportunities will open up for other young receivers on the Colts roster. Donte Moncrief was drafted this offseason and has plenty of potential on offense. He will get more opportunities in training camp to make plays and should see the field during the regular season.
Da’Rick Rogers was picked up last season and he has shown potential in his opportunities on the field with Andrew Luck and the offense. He will get more chances to play this season as well. The depth at the position was deep and the loss of Brazill will not hurt the team’s offense at all.
Brazill could be cut before the season even starts. There is not much of a market for a middle of the road wide receiver with multiple drug suspensions.
