Vincent Jackson says offense will be faster, diverse

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers organization looks incredibly different, and it’s definitely all for the better after last year’s disastrous campaign under incompetent head coach Greg Schiano. Lovie Smith and Jason Licht are bringing new direction to the Buccaneers, and the biggest differences will be on the offensive side of the ball. It looks like veteran Josh McCown will lead the way after a surprising 2013 season with the Chicago Bears, and the Bucs added Evan Dietrich-Smith, Anthony Collins, Mike Evans, and Austin Seferian-Jenkins into the fold to help turn the Buccaneers offense into the strength. They will still be a running team with star RB Doug Martin, but the Bucs passing attack looks more potent on paper.

New offensive coordinator Jeff Tedford is known for his ability to work with quarterbacks, and the former Cal head coach is expected to install a faster offense in Tampa Bay. Star wide receiver Vincent Jackson spoke to CBS Tampa Bay about a variety of topics, and he sounds excited about the changes on offense.

Jackson said, “It’s a faster paced offense that’s going to put a lot of pressure on the defense. We’re going to be very diverse and we want to be able to control the clock and dictate the pace that we want top play at.”

Evans and Jackson form a similar duo of wide receivers who can use their size to beat people, and they are also excellent at stretching the field. Seferian-Jenkins gives the Bucs a potentially dynamic TE who can line up anywhere, and make a big impact as a blocker or a pass-catcher. There’s a lot to like about the Buccaneers offense, and it will be interesting to see how many times Tedford throws it and what the team’s impact skill position players can do. Despite fighting through injury, V-Jax played in all 16 games and racked up 78 receptions for 1,224 yards, as he continues to be one of the game’s best wideouts.
