Justin Blackmon arrested for possession of marijuana

Ugh, and so it continues. According to News9.com, Jacksonville Jaguars star wide receiver Justin Blackmon was arrested for possession of marijuana last night in Edmond, Oklahoma. Edmond police stated that they stopped Blackmon for a traffic violation and found marijuana after smelling it in the vehicle. Although they did not disclose how much weed was found in the former Oklahoma State Cowboys star’s car, they did also give him the traffic citation. It’s yet another off-field transgression for Blackmon, who has been arrested multiple times for DUIs and is currently, like Cleveland Browns star receiver Josh Gordon, on indefinite suspension.

  • We’ve given Gordon plenty of criticism this offseason for his repeated mistakes, and Blackmon has been at least as bad as Gordon. I would be surprised if the Jaguars kept him around after this latest arrest, because he simply isn’t worth the trouble anymore. It’s almost sad to see how senseless Blackmon has been, as he’s destroying an incredibly promising career. This guy’s physical gifts are ridiculous, and he’s been a superstar since his days of torching defenses with quarterback Brandon Weeden in Stillwater.

David Caldwell and the Jaguars were already upset with Blackmon, and their comments this offseason made it sound like they don’t expect much out of Blackmon in the future. At this point, they shouldn’t expect anything, and I would be shocked if they had any faith in him. He’ll probably get a chance to play somewhere else because of his mind-blowing talent, but he won’t be able to do anything with his  talent if he keeps it up. The Jaguars already drafted two very talented receivers in Marqise Lee and Allen Robinson to go with star Cecil Shorts, and they’ll have Ace Sanders back after a likely four-game suspension; they don’t need this guy, no matter how dang good he is.
