Cleveland Browns punter says Antonio Brown never spoke with him

Pittsburgh Steelers star wide receiver Antonio Brown had a monster game against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, as he was vital in the team’s 30-27 overtime victory over the Browns, who nearly completed an impressive comeback victory against their rivals. Brown faced one of the top corners in the league in Joe Haden, but he proved why he is also an elite player at his position by exploding for 116 yards on just five catches (six targets).

Brown’s big day on the stat sheet was certainly impressive, but the biggest story was his karate kid-esque kick on Cleveland Browns punter Spencer Lanning, who took a nasty shot to the helmet and was predictably defenseless on the play as a punter. The kick unsurprisingly went viral, and Brown stated that he spoke with Lanning about the unfortunate incident.

However, ESPN NFL Nation’s Pat McManamon reports that Lanning stated he and Brown have not spoken about the play, so it would appear that Brown lied. This isn’t water under the bridge just yet, and it could still be a storyline when these two teams meet up again later on this season, though it’s not like this AFC North rivalry needs any more fuel to burn.
