Antonio Brown returns to game

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown left today’s game against the Baltimore Ravens with a possible concussion, as he absorbed a nasty- but clean- hit from veteran safety Darian Stewart, who lowered his shoulder right after Brown hauled in the pass. As the wideout turned, he was met in brutal fashion, and this play was followed up by a fumble from fellow receiver Justin Brown.

  • Antonio Brown was seen heading to the locker room, and he was examined for a concussion and deemed questionable to return. However, the Baltimore Sun’s Jeff Zrebiec reports that Brown will return to the game, as he has been cleared of all concussion symptoms through the league’s mandatory protocol.

It’s an incredibly quick recovery that has unsurprisingly left some Ravens fans skeptical as to whether or not the Steelers simply cheated the protocol, and this is something they’ve been accused of in the past. I’m not one to make conspiracy theories, so I’m just glad that Brown is back out there and healthy. As one of the game’s best receivers, Brown is an absolute joy to watch, and he’s one of the most important players on the team. With Markus Wheaton across from him, Brown can do even more damage to defenses, and losing him would restrict the Steelers offense by taking away a guy who can move the chains or burn defenses deep. I mean, he had five catches for 116 yards and a TD on Joe Haden in Week 1.
