New York Jets list Dee Milliner probable, will start Antonio Allen and Darrin Walls

The New York Jets didn’t miss top cornerback Dee Milliner as much as we thought, as they had no trouble holding down the Oakland Raiders passing attack in a gritty Week 1 victory. Derek Carr wasn’t able to use his terrific arm strength and athletic ability, as offensive coordinator Greg Olson pretty much constricted his playing style due to his fear of the Jets aggressive  front seven. The Raiders ran a lot of soft screen passes, which played right into the hands of the Jets healthy secondary members, especially converted safety Antonio Allen, who had an excellent 2014 regular season debut at his new position.

  • Well, Newsday’s Kimberly A. Martin reports that Milliner has been listed probable on the team’s injury report, and he’s pretty much fully recovered at this point after putting in a good week of practice. All signs have pointed to him being active this week, but Rex Ryan and the Jets will ease him into things in his first game back; they are wisely protecting a first-round pick and future lockdown corner.

While Ryan stated that the Jets will play Milliner in some capacity this week, he also added that Allen and Darrin Walls will continue to start. It’s not going to get easier for the Jets this week, though, because the Jets will be facing Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers this week instead of a team more afraid of over-working their rookie QB.
