DeSean Jackson Injury: No ‘structural damage’ for Washington Redskins WR

The Washington Redskins rolled over the Jacksonville Jaguars in a 41-10 victory, as backup quarterback Kirk Cousins is staking his claim to replace injured start RG3 for good. Cousins took advantage of an easy matchup by completing 67% of his passes for 250 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions, but the beneficiaries weren’t the usual culprits. Intriguing wideout Niles Paul put together a splendid game with 99 receiving yards on eight receptions, while solid rookie Ryan Grant, who has a pair of very sticky mitts, moved the chains for 57 yards on five receptions.

  • It was interesting to see Pierre Garcon only secure one catch on a meager four targets, but the likes of Paul and Grant were helped the most by an injury to DeSean Jackson. The new Redskins playmaker went down with a left shoulder injury in the first quarter and was replaced in the starting lineup by another new wideout in veteran possession guy Andre Roberts, and the shoulder injury didn’t look good at first glance.

Thankfully, the Bleacher Report’s Jason Cole reports that while Jackson unsurprisingly woke up “sore” today, he didn’t suffer any structural damage on his left shoulder. We’ll see how long D-Jax will be out, but he could miss next week’s grudge match against the Philadelphia Eagles with what is reportedly a bruised AC joint. It isn’t the first shoulder injury of his career, and the Redskins have enough depth at WR that they should be cautious with their best home-run threat.
