The New Orleans Saints have to be kicking themselves right now for giving Darren Sproles to the Philadelphia Eagles. He has been magnificent this season and the only thing that the Saints have to show for it is a 5th round draft pick that is sitting with the practice squad right now.

More from Philadelphia Eagles

Sproles had a career high 152 receiving yards last night against the Indianapolis Colts. He still has that elusiveness that he brought to the San Diego Chargers and to the New Orleans Saints. I just don’t understand why he was on the chopping block with the Saints.

The Saints had plenty of options to go with on offense, but Sproles is another weapon. He is a different type of weapon that can make people miss in the open field and he can protect his quarterback in the backfield and he can run the football. He has been perfect for the Eagles though.

The biggest question mark this season will be his ability to perform for the whole season. Last year, LeSean McCoy had worn down a bit toward the end of the year. Sproles was brought in to save McCoy from the wear and tear, but will Sproles be able to last. He could be due for his largest work load in his career.

Sproles has an incredible work ethic and has defied the odds during his whole career. He will be looking to make a ton of noise with the Eagles this season and he has so much potential with Chip Kelly running the show.
