Eric Decker Injury: New York Jets WR did not practice today

facebooktwitterreddit

New York Jets star wide receiver Eric Decker was having an excellent game against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, but that all went out the window in the third quarter when he pulled his hamstring, which is an aggravation of a nagging training camp issue. This injury is of huge concern to the Jets, because he’s their only legit playmaker in the passing game and is one of the best 20 wide receivers in the game today. A precise route-runner who can separate on deeper plays, Decker was doing a great job of leading the Jets passing attack against a Packers secondary that is playing very well, as he had a solid four receptions and 63 yards with a TD to lead the upset parade. When he left, there was no great wideout on the outside, and Geno Smith unsurprisingly regressed.

  • According to ESPN New York’s Rich Cimini, Decker did not practice today, and this shouldn’t come as a surprise. Cimini notes that he was able to do some “light running” and “agility drills”, but  that hardly gives us any optimism on his status. The Jets need this guy badly, and I’d wager that he’s the most important player on their offense.

Rex Ryan and the Jets have been incredibly quiet on the status of their star wideout, so we can only hope that Decker is able to practice at least once this week. The Jets don’t play the Chicago Bears until Monday night, so that busy him some time.
