Former Denver Broncos star cornerback Champ Bailey was made a cap casualty by the team in the offseason following the Super Bowl loss, but he managed to sign a contract with another contender in the New Orleans Saints. However, Bailey was unable to stick around on the Saints roster despite their investment in him, as the 36-year-old did not earn a job during the 53-man crunchdown and may have been hindered by the lingering effects of a foot injury that limited him last year.

The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that Bailey is “healthy” and “ready to go”, and he’s willing to play at any position (outside corner, nickel corner, or a conversion to safety, which is common among veteran corners such as Charles Woodson and, formerly, Ronde Barber) in an effort to win a ring. Rapoport’s report sounds either from Bailey or his agent, though that’s exactly where you’d expect it to come from, especially since ESPN’s Adam Schefter tweeted the same info out just a few seconds after Rapoport.
The “healthy” part of the report implies that one of the reasons for Bailey’s release may have been a lack of health, and it’s important for the older corner to prove that he is healthy and can stay that way for a new team. I think he still has something left in the tank, and he did get a workout from the CB-thin Detroit Lions early this month.
