Michael Crabtree added to injury report

San Francisco 49ers star wide receiver Michael Crabtree suffered a calf injury at practice early in the season, but the injury wasn’t an issue in Week 1 despite talk that he was a toss-up to play. He didn’t get many snaps in and caught just two passes for 25 yards, but he wasn’t really needed against a Dallas Cowboys defense (more like Tony Romo’s three picks) that gave the 49ers an early lead. Crabtree has rounded into health and form over the past two weeks with a combined 17 receptions and 162 yards with two TDs against the Chicago Bears and Arizona Cardinals.

  • Today, Crabtree has been added to the 49ers injury report with a quadriceps injury, and while most mid-week additions to the injury report cause some stir, this one is as minor of a downgrade as downgrades get. In fact, Crabtree hasn’t really even been downgraded, because he still got in a full practice (not limited but full) today despite the apparent quad injury.

It will be interesting to see if Crabtree gets a full day of practice tomorrow, but he’s been red-hot regardless and is locked to play. The 49ers will defend their home turf against the Philadelphia Eagles, which gives Crabtree a solid matchup and a chance to put up some more impressive numbers as the leader of a deep wide receivers corps.
