Doug Martin, Maurice Jones-Drew Injury Updates: RBs active

Tampa Bay Buccaneers feature back Doug Martin has lost some ground to RB2 Bobby Rainey, who is an apparent favorite of the new coaching staff. Martin missed the past two games with a knee injury that he suffered in Week 1 against the Carolina Panthers, and the injury was more severe than initially expected. I mean, it once looked like Martin wouldn’t have to miss any games at all.

Doug Martin is officially listed as active for today’s big game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, who blew out the Buccaneers rival Carolina Panthers last week on Sunday Night Football behind huge days from the RB duo of LeGarrette Blount and rising superstar Le’Veon Bell. It will be interesting to see how many carries Martin gets in his first game back, and it’s worth noting that Mike James is a healthy scratch today.

Oakland Raiders veteran running back Maurice Jones-Drew needed surgery on his hand to repair an unknown injury, but he was still surprisingly listed as questionable in Week 2 and Week 3 despite never really having a shot at playing (this was especially true in Week 2). However, MJD is listed active this week, and he was always expected to play after traveling to London and practicing fully with the team. Jones-Drew needs to have a solid day in order to establish himself in the Raiders offense, and head coach Dennis Allen could very well be coaching for his job today in London against the Miami Dolphins.
